...that it is important to make a gauge swatch when knitting? I never thought so before, but I just ripped out the sweater I started and half finished on the plane. Hours of work unraveled in minutes. Urgh!

Been there done that. I was making a sweater vest for my dad. You knitted it all in one piece up to the armholes. I got to the armholes and decided to measure it. Boy, did I get a shock. It was 10 inches to big. I had to rip the whole thing out and start over. I learned my lesson, I never start a knitting project without doing a guage swatch.

Oh no!
And the only thing I understood was "sweater," "ripped" and "airplane". And that doesn't add up to a good situation.

oh my....been there, but only on a rather poorly put together scarf and I had to walk away from the project for a week I was so frustrated! Grrrrr....
The good news is you do have another flight home?!? :) Wish I could zip up to DC to see you and FINALLY meet those beautiful girls...hard to resist knowing you are on the same coast!
