I flew to California today to meet the moving truck and get everything loaded and on its way to Colorado.
Not a great day to fly.
After I'd self-checked in for my flight, I realized how many liquids I had in my carry-on suitcase and decided I didn't really want to throw them all away. Saline solution, shampoo and conditioner, nail polish, toothpaste, Proactiv skin care stuff. It all adds up fast.
The line to check baggage was crazy long, so I headed back outside to curb check my suitcase. Definitely worth the $2 fee.
Then I headed down the escalator at DIA for security, only to realize that the line went past the entrance and wrapped around the entire bottom floor of the airport! Luckily I can read and shuffle forward in line at the same time--and my flight was delayed.
My dad called me to let me know what was up in the world and the reason behind all of the security measures. He assured me that because of everything that was going on, it was probably the safest day to fly.
I don't really like to fly. I used to love it, but since having kids I worry about all kinds of scary scenarios and get panicky. But I trust my dad, they found me an aisle seat after all, and I bought a new book, so I settled in with my breakfast snack of cashews and Skittles and the flight went uneventfully and quickly.
So now I'm off to continue my book in bed and wake up to meet the moving truck in the morning. There are a few more random boxes to pack tomorrow and cleaning to do, but the end is in sight.
Yesterday was just crazy for everyone. Glad you made it safely back to California. Are you flying or driving back to Colorado?
