We found a wonderful neighborhood yesterday after we took Audrey to school. We drove around for a couple of hours, picked up a ton of fliers, and made an appointment to see the best of the bunch. We really liked the house and went back again this morning. We put in an offer and are waiting to hear back from the sellers; they have until the end of the day tomorrow to respond.
In the meantime I'm working my way through the Outlander books by Diana Gabaldon. (With all of my crafty stuff packed, I don't have much else to do. I don't want to unpack anything else--if we can buy this house, we'll be moving again in three more weeks.) I've read some of these books before--all out of order--and am thoroughly enjoying reading them all, in order.
My friend Sarah has a rule about reading books in order. In the case of these books, I think she's right. If you've not read them, I recommend them. I love historical fiction, and each book in the series is nice and long--hours of escape into the past.
Unfortunately being buried in the past has meant that the girls have watched way too much television today. It's been raining all day, so we've been stuck indoors. I think we'll have to come up with some sorts of crafty things to do. We did make some chocolate chip cookies together late this afternoon--fun by fattening. Something non-edible is in order...
Please send the rain our way... we're just east of ya.
Mmmm... chocolate chip cookies. Perhaps I should make some this week as well...

Ahh, the Outlander series! I love those books. If you want a real treat, listen to them on audio book when you are finished with the series. Look for the unabridged versions, read by Davina Porter. It adds a whole new element to hear all of the Gaelic words and Scottish accents. Her Jamie is divine to listen to!
Congrats on the house!
