Here's a quick update on our Advent countdown each day...
***
My weekend in Phoenix at Living Proof Live was unbelievable. It was great to see friends from San Diego, to make new ones, and to see Beth in person. She talked about the investments God makes in us and the importance of knowing our purpose. Everything she taught is still churning around in my mind as I try to sort through it and figure out what it means for my everyday life.
I've been thinking a lot about the parable of the talents (Luke 19) lately and what that means for the gifts I have but am not using because of fear. On Friday night, she opened with that same parable. A little weird. And then at one point when she talked about God's calling in our lives, she said it sounds like "Beth!" to her. Then she shouted "Joanne!" into the microphone and I just about fell out of my seat. Um...yes, God?
I feel like there's so much floating around in my head that I'm just not able to articulate yet. So I'm just mulling it all over and jotting down thoughts as they come.
I'm excited that she's doing a Living Proof Live weekend in Albuquerque in April. I called my mom and some friends...we're definitely going! If you have a chance to see her...go!
I love your Advent countdown pictures, what a creative idea! We have a quilted tree with pockets that we use to count down the days until Christmas... but your retelling the story of Jesus is truly "the reason for the season"! As for the parable of the talents, I too have been thinking about and struggling with what gifts I have that I need to be using for God's glory.

I love your Advent boxes. Where did you get the little story pieces for each day?
