Look at my beautiful mother. The back of the photo says, "Mary Katherine, Engagement Photo, 1968."
I've sat here for a while thinking about what I want to say about my mother. And thinking about her makes my heart so full of gratitude that I can't quite express it. To say she's my role model, my friend, my teacher, my example of what it means to be a woman and wife and mother wouldn't quite say enough.
My mother is a lady. I don't know if it's because she grew up in the South, but there's something about her... I suppose when I think of her, the word that comes most readily to mind is "gracious." She's one of those women who always carries herself well, knows the right thing to say, is delighted to help others.
She is beautiful as you can see so clearly, but she shines with an inner beauty as well..."the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit" (1 Peter 3:4).
People often say that I look like her. People I don't know well will look at me closely, then say, "You're Kay's daughter, aren't you?" While I'm thrilled to look like her on the outside, what I want most is to be like her on the inside.
Happy birthday, Mom. I love you and am so thankful that God chose you to be mine.
She is stunning. You could be twins!! Beautiful tribute. Happy Birthday, Mom!!

What a beautiful tribute to your Mother! Yes, she is very beautiful too. I just located your blog via Moody Broadcasting. I'm always interested in simplifying and have a few sites listed on "my favorites". Mostly, I have knitting sites listed in "my favorites". What a treat to find that you knit as well! I was looking through your archives and have decided to put you on "the list". I'm looking foward to checking in on your blog now and again. Knitting and Simple Living- a great combination!

What a beautiful Mom you have and you definitely resemble her! Based on your blog, I think you must also possess her "gracious" personality too. I love that verse from Peter....I think that's twice this week that I've come across it. As a mom, I hope one day my children will value the beauty of a quiet and gentle spirit in me.
