Here's Audrey in the outfit she made!
She sewed all the seams in the shorts and the headband. I put on the rick rack and did the hems. She also sewed the beads in the center of the flower applique and I zig-zagged it on to an Old Navy tank top.

We're just about all packed to head to the lake tomorrow. I searched for a swimsuit cover today, but couldn't find one, so I made this one from a chenille bedspread (thank you, Janna!) and a vintage Simplicity pattern. Mumu is such a fun word, don't you think?
It's basically two squares (the skirt part, gathered at the top) and two rectangles (the sleeves and yoke) sewn together at the sides and top with an opening left for your head. No hem on the bottom because of the bedspread fringe. Very simple. (The pattern can also be made from purchased towels.)
See you at the lake this weekend!
..have a great trip! (Will the girls be opening up etsy shops when you get back? They should market this cute stuff! :)

Okay, Maria Von Trapp! And I suppose you made Audrey's play clothes out of the old drapes that used to hang in your bedroom! You gals are too talented for words! ^I agree with Stacy--they should set up shop!
I took the girls to JoAnn, etc. a couple days ago to get fabric for their basement playroom (I'm stapling it up to cover the pipes.), and Livi said, "I want to learn how to sew!" Some girls (Audrey and Emma) have all the luck when it comes to cool crafty moms!

Hi Joanne,
I just finished reading your book, Living Simply (which I though was very insightful and useful)saw your blog address at the end and here I am.
One of my favorite quotes is: "Living simply involves intention and purpose. It requires focus. It looks beyond the task at hand to the purpose behind it."
The clothes you and your daughter made are great. You are very talented. I would love to be able to write and sew.
I'm a Christian mom too. And I also have girls(5,10,14).
You know this is little strange writing to the author of the book you just read and reading her blog and looking at pictures of her children, her house, her life.
Thank you for sharing your talents.
God Bless.
