Yesterday afternoon I finished all of the hand quilting on "The Seven Year Quilt"!!! I've pieced together some binding and hope to get it sewn on tomorrow. Then stitch it down and wash the quilt.
That's my favorite part, because the quilt gets all pucker-y when you wash and dry it.
I'll charge my camera and take pictures soon...
(I think all quilts should have a name, and since I began this one almost exactly seven years ago, it's "The Seven Year Quilt." It was either that or "It took me forever to finish this and I just got tired of it not being done and figured it was about time to get it finished since I've already put so much time and effort into the darn thing"--but that would take too long to embroider.)
WOOOHOOO!! I am so proud of you for finishing! What an accomplishment! Way to stick with something and see it though.
Looking forward to lunch tomorrow!

How about calling it, "Worth it!" I can't wait to see the final product in person next week.
Yay God!
And I forgot to call... I will soon!

Wow. I am so happy for you. A completed quilt and hand quilted. I hope you enjoy it. I can see you and the girls snuggled up under it reading a book or watching a movie. Tenacious/ persistent? :)

Can't wait to see the pictures.....do the girls join you in doing all this fun stuf??...
Yesterday, at home I asked my husband if he would partcipate if I started a table top cover...and to my surprise he said 'yes' and looked very excited.....the crafts store is shut down for the winters....guess will have to wait for some more time.
Waiting for a picture of you with the girls snuggled in the quilt...

Great! I'll bet that's a wonderful feeling to have it done, and a better feeling to cuddle up in it. I can't wait to see it!

I helped my grandmother with a quilt that I still have to this day. Hand quilted. I sewed the squares together. Straight lines--easy enough for me.
I have aspirations to make another one. I'm saving my son's t-shirts from the various sports he plays. I plan to use a rectangle pattern, cut out the logos from the front, and sew them together. I'll have to pay someone to actually put it together and quilt it for me because that goes beyond my skills.
How's the Stepping Up study going? Where are you? can we compare some notes. Email me if so.
Blessings in Christ--

The best part of a quilt is the memory of what it all holds in those 7 years. Please don't forget to show us the pictures.

Congratulations on finishing your quilt and for your persistence! I am an aspiring quilter (have just barely started my first one) and look forward to the day I finish one! I, too, like that "puckery" comfortable look to a quilt. Do I still need to prewash my fabrics before piecing, even if I want that puckered look? Will it still pucker if I do prewash?
I enjoy your blog and am looking forward to seeing pictures of your quilt!
