Despite the cloudy/rainy weather (which actually makes everything look super-duper greener), it's a good morning.
Here's why:
I helped Audrey with math homework last night and we didn't want to kill each other--not once!
I got to meet so many wonderful women yesterday morning at the MOPS Spring Tea at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. I had a blast! Their tea was lovely and I had a new outfit to wear and I didn't fall over wearing really high heels (something I've loved ever since about the third grade when I wore a women's 5 and could try on high heels at Famous Footwear). So many moms I met have 10-year-old girls and are dealing with the same roller coaster of emotions we are. I think we need a support group.
Only six and a half more days of school--one of which is an all-school carnival and barbecue. (It was supposed to be today, but it's rainy, so it's been postponed until next Thursday.
Toben and I are going to Seattle tomorrow for a marriage weekend that his company does here and there. And we get to have dinner with our friends Brian and Hanna tomorrow night. And we're going to go visit Starbucks #1 on Saturday morning. (Beth--I'll send you a postcard or buy you a t-shirt or something!) (Note my huge assumption that she--that would be Beth Moore, of course--reads my blog or even knows who I am!)
From my huge and daunting list that was facing me last Monday (end of the year Brownie party, Mother-Daughter Tea party for the Juniors, two speaking engagements, edits due to my publisher on my next book, and a study guide to write for Toben's company), everything but the study guide is over and done with. Hooray!
New clothes! It's been a while since I got some new clothes and I stocked up for summer. New shorts and tees and a couple of great things on super clearance at Anthropologie. (Oh, how I love that store!) It's going to make packing for this weekend really, really easy.
Chapel today. Thursday morning is chapel at school and Toben and I usually always go. I love seeing the kids worship and knowing what they learned about. And afterward, my friend Shanna and I get together to pray with a few other moms for the school, for families, for each other.
Grocery shopping later. I know, kinda weird to be excited about it. But you can't feel guilty for spending money at the grocery because you've gotta eat! And the cupboard, pantry, and fridge are all really bare. So much so, that Toben's going to run through Subway and take the girls lunch later. Really, I got nothin' to pack in their lunchboxes. Nothin'.
Because of that, we had barbecue for dinner last night. And they had fried okra. If you get it, you know. If not, you're missing out. Big time.
So that's all I can think of without getting another cup of coffee. And that's a lot. So, thank you, God, for a good morning!
It's always nice to see things completed on a long list of things to do! Have a great weekend getaway!

I hope you have a great weekend in Seattle...What are you wearing for the wedding.
I need your prayers today Joanne. My family has been going through a tough time lately. I try to put everything in front of God and listen what he says. But I am having trouble listening. I am becoming indecisive and I dont know whom to ask for directions.
I hope and pray that God gives all of us the strength to listen to him.

I forgot to ask...can I be a part of your support group? This age (almost 10) is TUFF!

I'm a Seattle-ite and fellow Whitworth alum who enjoys your blog! Enjoy your trip to our lovely city--the weather is supposed to be downright gorgeous while you're here (as in 80s, which hardly ever happens!). :)

Fried okra? YUM!
And I definitely want to join that support group for moms of hormonal girls. Count me in!

Sounds like a great day...enjoy your time in Seattle...I am in Portland but my brother lives in Seattle...it was 85 today and 95 tomorrow...so Seattle should be gorgeous and you will probably be drinking that coffee iced...enjoy...
Oh...and yes there are a whole lot of us moms of girls that need lots of support...and chocolate...and kleenex...and prayer...and grace!
Mine are 18 and a month shy of 15...in many ways I feel like it is starting back to basics...things like...are they tired...are they hungry...it can be a minefield but we have One who can help us navigate the different maps of our girls...praying for you...been there...still there...but better armed with more days...remember you gain wisdom with each day even in those taking a deep breath moments...it doesn't evaporate even when we feel like we have blown it...so stay strong your girls are so blessed to have such a wonderful mom!

VERY cool that you go to chapel! I taught in a Christian school, and I wish that more parents had chosen to come (those who were able).
