Love your idea of using what you have already! It makes so much sense. Hurrah for responsible stewardship! Your pancake breakfast sounds scrumpsch--a fun tradition.

we have another two weeks until school starts, but I like the "dry run" idea.
Hope the first week goes well!

Smart girl! I, too, dug thru our school supply desk and took an inventory, pulled things together and then went shopping. Still spent hundreds of this age, high school, everything is so specialized...each class wants specific things...I couldn't believe the lists that Sarah and Brett had and then for Shawn...going off to college...I didn't know what to get him so I just bought him some basics and he'll have to get the rest at the book store.

Simplify is my middle name this coming Fall...God has so been speaking to me about it and the change has got to begin with me.

Glad you are back from the Lake...can't believe the summer is almost over. School starts Sep 2 for us, August 25 for Shawn. We take him a week from tomorrow :(

Russell says I am now in denial. Gone from crying about it all the time to just denying it's gonna actually happen! It's how I deal with it, okay...??!!

What a great idea! I'm making my girl use her back pack from last year, as well as the binder. I got a deal on pencils, pens & highlighters from Walgreens - 9 cents a package! Sounds like our school supply list is much the same.

Wow.The school supplies are everywhere these days..all my friends at office are preparing for their kids 'back to school'..must be so much fun.

What a clever girl you are! I think it's a great idea. I was just saying to my husband the other day that the one thing I miss about not going to school is not getting new pens, notebooks, etc. I just love all that stuff!!

I really loved school shopping, but especially school clothes shopping! My mom didn't drive so we'd take a bus to the mall and spend the whole day. She'd take each of us 6 kids one day at a time. It took her a while, but was an extra special time for each of us to have her all to ourselves for one day.

Have fun with the girls!

well done Joanne. My daughter is still in primary school (last grade this coming year) and since they don't need much supplies I do the same. Some things are used from a year to another, they don't need everything brabd new every year. It saves money to help buy a pair or good sport shoes or stuff like that.
Your two are sooooo pretty on the above pictures ! How time flies isn't it ?!
