Well, I sure didn't mean to check out for so long after Monday's post. Life just sorta got a little bit busy.
reeeee e333E
(That's from Pumpkin. She just jumped up into my lap and then onto the keyboard. She is a Mac kitty and loves to walk all over the keys and type. Or lay down and go to sleep. Silly girl.)
First, thanks for all the great response to Memory Monday. I've got my verses printed up on a pretty card that is quickly getting pretty bent and beat up as I carry it here and there. I also wrote the first verse up on the blackboard in the kitchen so I see it when I walk by.
I'm reading it whenever I see it, which is a good way to start memorizing for me. The Sunday school teacher Toben and I just had said this (again and again!): Repetition is the key to long-term memory. I think he's right.
If you want to participate and don't have a blog, you can type your verse out each Monday in the comments of my post and pick your new one there too. Let's not forget to pray for each other as we learn. That God would write his law on our hearts and that the Holy Spirit would remind us of what we have learned--both things God has promised us in his Word.
That doesn't mean--unfortunately--that it will be easy all the time. But it does mean that he works with us as we memorize.
Second, thanks for all your prayers for Tuesday morning. It was a small Mommy and Me group (I think there were six of us) plus the cutest twins in pink fuzzy jammies who came along. Made me want another baby! Sort of. But not really.
We talked about bearing fruit since their theme for the year is the fruit of the Spirit. We looked at Psalm 92 and talked about how where we're planted and what we're proclaiming affects the fruit we bear.
Yesterday I got my official acceptance letter from Denver Seminary. I start school January 5! I've been assuming I'd be accepted and telling everyone that I'm going to seminary; it's nice that's it's really official!
And I've been proofing the typeset version of Misplacing God which comes out after Christmas. I just realized that it needs to be back at the publisher by tomorrow, which means I need to Fedex it today, which means I need to go finish proofing the two or three chapters I have left to go.
Making a book is a long process. It's strange to me that I wrote it a year ago and it's just now at this stage. Patience is definitely a virtue when it comes to publishing!
As I've read it, I'm so thankful--again!--for all of you and the responses you gave when I asked for help and insight into your own quiet times with the Lord. Thanks again!
Okay, I'm off for another cup of coffee and my handy-dandy red pen! Ya'll have a great day. I love you!
I missed out on this weeks memory verse. I'll join up next Monday. It's a great idea.
Congrats on Seminary, that's really exciting!

Praying for you today, friend!
So glad for the perfect timing God has for this book--asking Him to greatly use it and bless others.
I really hope to meet Pumpkin sometime soon!

I am so pleased for you that you'll be starting school soon! It's so exciting!
I need all the help I can get when it comes to my memory, so I love the idea of Memory Monday.
I loved little Pumpkin's contribution to your blog Joanne! I have a Macbook too and I've just had to wrestle our cat off the keyboard too! Must be something about how flat it is!

I remember you writing it...I believe I spent some of my Disney vaca sending you some answers to questions...lol...I LOVED doing that, by the way. Can't wait to read the book.
Okay, so I've pretty much memorized MY scripture for this week...lol. I laughed when I read it in our devotion yesterday, too.
Next week...I'll branch out a bit. Maybe memorize something with, oh say, four or five words in it!
Congrats on the acceptance. Now we'll all know who to go to in order to help us with our OT questions.
Love ya.

I'm so excited to read you next book! You sure have a lot of great things going on! : ) I get to meet your friend Janna Widdifield on Sat. She is doing a fundraiser for our MOPS. Such a small world!

So many good things are happening in your life and you deserve each and every one of them.

I'd love to get on the memory verse bandwagon. I have always wished I learnt more bible verses as a child, but it is never too late to start.
Also, congratulations on your acceptance to Denver Seminary.

I do not really follow your blog, but I have come here a few times, as a link from a friend. I am very intrigued to hear that you are going to Denver Sem! Congratulations! I am actually finishing my MA in Biblical Studies (Hebrew Bible) at Iliff School of Theology (by DU). I guess I am wondering why you chose to go to Denver Sem rather than Iliff. I don't really have much to say- but I suddenly felt a connection to you and your upcoming journey when I read that you were about to attend seminary, and I look forward to hearing more about your adventures to come in grad school. It is a lot of work, and a lot of fun. I wish you the very best.

So excited about your new book, Joanne. And I'm on board starting tomorrow for Memory Monday. I really need to work on that!
Oh, and I can help you with your baby fix anytime you want.
