What is the difference between morning dark and night dark? I can get up and out of bed when it's dark in the morning, but I can't stay awake past 8:10 when it's dark at night. I'm in a terrible rut of falling asleep early and then waking up at 3:30 each morning. I so need to break this cycle. I have great intentions of staying awake until 9, but just can't. I need some serious help! How do you stay awake at night when it's dark? HELP!
Especially since I'm headed to Girl Scout camp this weekend. Though I am in charge and that means lights out at 9 p.m. so there'll be no super late nights there. I am not a fan of letting little girls stay up half the night. They are cranky the next day and then come home on Sunday afternoon and have major meltdowns. So I strictly enforce bedtime and I'm pretty sure their parents are glad I do. (I also make them eat vegetables at camp--everyone has to take at least three bites. Brownie bites!)
I do have fun with the girls at camp, but I don't typically sleep well so I'm dreading this weekend a little bit. If you think of me this weekend, I could use some prayers. Especially since I feel a little cold coming on, and PMS is scheduled to strike. Please More Spirit! (Beth Moore blogged that at one time, but I can't find the link and I'm running out of time to be searching this morning.)
Speaking of colds... It's coming from Audrey who sits next to a kid who's been coughing and sneezing all over her for a week now. Why, oh why, do parents send sick kids to school?! A little cold is one thing, but if your kid is spreading germs with reckless abandon, keep him or her home!
Okay, it's time to get off my soapbox and get the girls up, but I wanted to say a quick good morning!
Hi Joanne- I hope you get some rest soon. What if you take a nap in the afternoon for an hour or drink a Coke around 4:00. Maybe that will help. It helps me!
I've been looking for a book you mentioned about Jewish holidays, etc. My Bible study leader has mentioned she wants to learn more about this subject and I thought it would make a nice gift. Can you remember the title? Thanks a bunch! Missi

Hi Joanne,
We were at Girl Scout Camp just the other weekend, and had a BLAST!!! Such good memories :o)
I'll be praying for you this weekend.
As far as staying awake, make yourself a cup of hot tea (herbal, not caffeinated) around 8pm - that should help you stay awake until 9pm.
Hugs,
Adrienne

Sick kids should stay home... from a teach who gets "spat" on often!

Just a suggestion for what we use for oncoming colds. As soon as we feel that little scratchy throat or runny nose we begin using Zicam. It works great for our family and sometimes we don't get a full blown cold at all. This is over the counter and can be bought anywhere.

OK, let's make a pact: neither one of us will get into bed before 9:00 p.m. You know this is going to be TOUGH for me, but if we stand together maybe we can do it!

I will be praying for you and everybody who is out camping this weekend.
And yes I can suggest something that will keep you awake for a little longer after dark.Just think of what you are going to wear the next day. I do that a lot of times and end up rearranging a little of my closet This usually takes around half an hour and then it really is bed time.

I have absolutely no idea what you mean by "I have got to stay up later." :)

I have the opposite problem! I could stay up until midnight, but I can't drag myself out of bed before 7:30am!

Sometimes taking a shower in the early evening helps me stay awake for a while longer.

For the cold...run and get some Zicam quick! I will pray you get some rest and I am sure all of their buzzing energy will keep you awake until 9pm but I am sure you will need a rest when you get home!

Go walk your dog at 7:30...in this freezing cold weather...and you should be awake for awhile. Or drink coffee at 5pm! (just kidding...you'll be awake WAY longer than is good for you). I don't have any other ideas. I rarely go to bed before 10:30.
Girl Scout camp sounds FUN! I can't wait until we start doing that with our girls. I think I want them to be a little older though before we start.

Too funny... I have been waking up every morning this week at 3:30 am too!! Actually not so funny. I wake up, my brain kicks in and I can't go back to sleep.
I am always up for the day by 5... so what's up with 3:30!
I have tried everything... staying up later... drugs... oh well.
Hope you can sleep in later too!
