So I know I already did my memory verse for this week a few days ago here, but it's Monday and I missed y'all last week since I was internet-less.
Here's what I learned for today:
God is my refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore I will not fear, though... (Psalm 46:1-2a)
Yes, I know that the NIV really says "our" refuge and "we" will not fear, but I wanted to memorize this in a first-person, personal way, so I did.
I also stopped where I did on purpose with the dot-dot-dot (or ellipses, for the editor in me!) because it seems like there's always something different to end it with:
- though...Toben's out of town and I heard a weird noise in the night
- though...the plane is shaking and I'm sure we're going to die in a fiery crash
- though...my children aren't home
- though...the world seems like such a scary place some days
- though...I don't see God working like I want him to in a certain situation
- though...a friend is facing heartbreak
I will not fear. It sounds so certain, so sure, so strong, doesn't it. It sounds like a decision has been made, a choice set, feet dug in. I will not fear.
All because of Jesus. Immanuel. God with us. God with me. An ever-present help. Not just arriving on the scene, needing to be filled in. Not coming soon, leaving me wondering if he'll be too late.
Ever present. And just that right there is a help. To know I'm not alone. I'm never alone. God is here. He's standing in front of me, offering me refuge, giving me his own strength to face whatever it is.

"Ever present." Yes, it sure is comforting to now that God is ALWAYS with me. Even right now as I type this comment. I love how you stopped with the "though" and left it for whatever may be pressing you that day.
My Memory Monday post is up.
