I'm sitting here in the Valley of Dreams--the funkiest little trailer park on the beach in Leucadia, just across the way from Jim and Susan, Toben's aunt and uncle, and just a few minutes drive from where we used to live in Carlsbad. I've just finished by coffee that Toben brought me from Pannikin, as well as my day's homework from Esther.
Toben and the girls have moseyed up the hill to check out the surf at Beacon's, the beach at the top of the hill. I thought I'd check in and say hello before throwing on some shorts and heading out for a walk in the sand. I'm hoping to spot a dolphin or two. Note to self--take the camera!
We drove in yesterday--and I fell in love with my iPhone all over again. Driving through Dateland, I wondered about the town and the stand of palm trees. Hello Google! Same for the Imperial Sand Dunes. I'm one of those road trippers who's always asking questions about things we pass. "I wonder who lives here?" "What's that?" Now I know!
When we switched drivers and I started wondering aloud, Toben just nodded until I told him it was his job to find out for me since Googling and driving don't mix. I kept him busy!
We've been catching up with family and friends and it's been fun to have so many memories come pouring back. The time we lived here was a hard time for our family with Toben's falling apart and being diagnosed bipolar, but it was also an amazingly good time of seeing God so clearly at work, tenderly caring for our family.
Hmm...what to do today?
A walk on the beach and dolphin spying
Breakfast with Jim and Susan at Ruby's
Hanging out my friend Terri's house
...and lots of other fun stuff!
But for now, Toben's waiting for me to put on my shoes and go walking. Don't wanna keep him waiting!
Oh oh oh! Drive south a bit and hit Las Olas for me! BEST MEXICAN FOOD IN THE WORLD!!!
