I love this! Comments are still trickling in and thanks to sitemeter I know there are some of you who haven't said hello yet. So I'll leave this up another day or two and do a giveaway on Tuesday if anyone else wants to weigh in.
***
Good morning!
I've been seeing some comments from some of you I've not heard from before, and I LOVE IT! It's so fun to get even a small feel of who you are and where you're from.
So just out of curiosity and for my own bloggy pleasure, if you're reading this post and whether I know you or you've never ever commented before or you comment every post or even is this is your first time here, would you leave a comment? Please?
Here's what I would love to know:
- Your name
- Where you live
- One thing you'd really like for Christmas
(And NOT world peace! We'd all love that, but I'm looking for something along the lines of an out-of-this-world, crazy, indulgent, if you could have anything, anything you wanted, what would it be?)
Why Christmas? Because I just realized last night that even though it was in the 80s in Phoenix yesterday, it was snowing in Denver and Christmas is coming and I haven't given a thought to what to do/make/buy for the people I love for Christmas. Usually I've had a plan going since July, but I've somehow been stuck in summer mode and am thinking it's time I got crackin'.
After a few days when everyone's had a chance to comment, I'll do a little drawing. Probably not for something like a trip around the world or a diamond ring too heavy to lift or your own personal barista to bring you coffee in bed each morning, but something.
Ready? Set? Go!
P.S. And don't forget to scroll down and type in the code to make your comment post. I know some of you have clicked on the publish button and then gone elsewhere. I only see your comment if you punch in that code. It's a hassle, but it saves me from gobs of spam, so thanks.
My name is Vicki and I live in Turlock, CA. This is really a splurge, but I would like the 90th anniversary Kitchenaid Candy Apple Red mixer. I already have a 36 yr. old Kitchenaid that is going strong so I don't really need a new one.

I'm Ann & I live in Lincoln, Nebraska. I would like a signed copy of Michael Forsberg's new book Great Plains.

I'd be so happy to see my friend, Joanne!!
But as for indulgent? I'd like a brand new sewing machine with fabric and books on how to do stuff, since I'm not very wise to it, yet.

My name is Barb and I live in Fulton, NY. For Chrismas, I would love to get a gift certificate to the book store, so I could go in and just buy any book I wanted without looking at the price.

I'm Angie living in Phoenix and gosh, what I would like for Christmas... to know how my bills were getting paid? Ok, maybe that doesn't count. I'd LOVE to have beautiful bedding to make my bedroom pretty for the first time EVER in my adult life. It's true. I'll be 45 years old in 2 weeks and have never had pretty bedding or anything pretty in my bedroom my entire adult life. How pathetic and sad is that?

Trish Anderson, central Arkansas ~ my "out-of-this-world, crazy, indulgent, if you could have anything, anything you wanted, what would it be?" Christmas wish would be that my hubby would find a super-dee-duper job in Colorado, Wyoming or Montana so we could move back up to the northwest. Oh, and I'd really like my friend Joanne to be there, too. ;)

I am Lorina... I live in the South Asian Delta... and I would like a trip to the States to visit my family for Christmas... or I would settle for three books... The Power of a Praying Wife, The Power of a Praying Parent, and Caps for Sale... or if I had to have just one present, I would maybe have a massage.... but maybe I could go to Thailand to get it. :)

A spa weekend with two of my closest friends including spa treatments, quiet time, and spa food with unlimited hot tea, warmed up blankets and a pile of movies to watch at the end of each day. Yep, that's what I'd want. (Oh, and a housekeeper that has a habit of putting something in the oven or crockpot as soon as she gets to the house and every week a new drawer or closet is cleaned out and organized. (Sorry that's two things but hey I can dream)

My name is Mindy and I live in Chicago, IL. If I could ask for one thing for Christmas it would have to be a vacation with myself and my son. Maybe Disney World. With the hustle and bustle of us both being in school (college and first grade) we haven't been connecting and I feel like we are battling all the time. We both need attitude adjustments. And a little getaway would be perfect.

My name is Sharon. I live in Colorado Springs and happened upon your webpage months ago when I was on your sister's blog. We used to go to the same church and be in a bible study together. For Christmas I would love to have made up my mind on whether or not I am going to continue working after my baby girl arrives in February.

My name is Anna and I live in north-east Texas. If I was going to ask for something outrageous for Christmas it would be a trip to Las Vegas to see Cher in concert. I have been a closet fan since I used to watch re-runs of the Sonny and Cher show as a child.

Hi!! My name is Kellye and I live in South Louisiana!! If I could totally splurge and Santa would bring me anything for Christmas, I think I would have to have Candice Olson come and decorate my entire house...IM BRUTAL!! That would include my wanna be craft room upstairs that just holds all of the junk that Im too lazy to put in the attic!!

I'm Jenn Polson... in Westminster, CO. I would love a pair of brown leather, high-heeled boots. I can never bring myself to spend the money on them and my husband refers to them as "hooker boots", so I'm going to keep dreaming... :)

Hi! I'm Rachel. I am from Westerville, Ohio. It is just north of Columbus. I'm probably one of your younger readers since I am only 20. This year for Christmas I will be waiting around to see if I was accepted into nursing school, although my own personal cobbler would be nice.

For Christmas, well, anything on my Amazon wish list! But mostly, I just want a lemon tree...yep, a lemon tree...so many uses for lemons and they're usually way too expensive for the amount of them I want to use.

My name is Elizabeth and I live in Somerville, Alabama. While Barb's wish for a gift certificate to the book store sounds great and actually my son did get me one last year to Books a Million, I have thought long and hard about your question and I can think of nothing in the gift department; I have everything I want and need already. However, "along the lines of an out-of-this-world...if you could have anything, anything you wanted," it would be that my 21 year old nephew who is paralyzed from his shoulders down could be healed or at least be able to receive the therapy that he needs to possibly get the use of his hands and arms back. In the 2 years since his accident, life has been very difficult for him as well as my sister (his mom) and I, who take care of him and see everything he goes through each day. I do believe in God and I am constantly praying for my nephew. Would all of you please pray for him (Skylar) as well.
Blessings,
Elizabeth

Well, since you said to be extravagant...I would love a Kindle...but there is a part of me that wonders if I would miss the feel of holding a book in my hand and manually turning the pages...if that is the case than a hefty gift card for books! OH JOY!

4. a new sewing machine and LOTS of sewing books and material (to make me & my kids lots of clothes and new curtains and.......) I REALLY want to learn how to sew!!

Christina from Longmont. I just finished Misplacing God and it really blessed me! I have been having a quiet time regularly now. Thank you for writing it. I really enjoy your blog- I lived in Phoenix for a while so I like hearing about your adventures there. Be sure to go have a roasted corn pizza at La Grande Orange restaurant at 4410 N. 40th Street. (Or you can go for breakfast and get a Spanish Latte and a piece of their brioche fruit toast. All amazing!) Tara from Crestview, Florida...no wait, I JUST moved to Lake Eufaula, Alabama while we are buying a house in nearby Dothan.
I've been being so much more frugal these days and it has caused a huge change in me. I have to say it makes it very hard to think of frivolous things for myself. So, I guess that's a good thing.
But since we are in the process of buying a house on a budget that will not allow much money to replace floors and what-not, I would have to say I would love a gift card to Lowe's to buy things for the house.

What would I want for Christmas? Why is this so hard? It's because I only think of the kids!! Okay, I would like some cozy, fuzzy, warm slip on booties/slippers. My feet are like ice in the winter - and I know I will need some!

Hi Joanne! Susan from Gilbert, Arizona
I would love to have my own ART room. I want an old table that I can paint or sculpt or make any type of mess on. I also want stuff, eclectic, that I can rifle through to make a collage on a whim. Things like buttons, baubles, old maps, pretty papers......oh what is the name for "stuff"......epherma? (something like that). Oh, yes!!!! and the big block wooden letters on the "turquoise" colored walls that spell out ARTSY FARTSY. Love, love, love this. You know as I write this....I believe this is possible....maybe not a whole room- but definitely a lil' ol' spot in the house somewhere.........

I would love to just get away with my husband and do something fun. We only get out together once or twice a year and it is always just enough time to grab dinner. I'd love to do one of those mystery dinners with him or go see Brian Regan, our favorite comedian. Of course, a more indulgent wish would be a cruise of some sort.

Hey Joanne! Can't wait until you're back in the snowy north!
What do I want for Christmas? A new puppy... specifically, a Bernese/Pyr mix that would help put a spring back in my old dog's step (she just had surgery today, poor thing). It's not going to happen any time soon, unfortunately. :(

Hey Joanne! I've been thinking of doing something like this on my blog--wanting to see if more than my mom and mother in law read! :) I'm also in Phx metro area and for Christmas I would like a family vacation to Disneyland. I think my girls are at a good age for it and I can't wait to take them.

This is Rachel from Colorado Springs. I love your blog, Joanne!
For over-the-top ideas for a Christmas gift this year, I'd love a trip to Scotland with my husband, a bedroom set (after 10 years of marriage we still don't have bedroom furniture besides the mattress set), hardwood flooring on our main level or a Bernina. Plenty of options, though they are just little dreams and certainly not needs.

Melanie, from Sydney, Australia.
I would love to take my workaholic husband away on holidays for a week as it would be nice to spend some time as a family.

I'm Mary from VA. Last year my son made it home from Iraq on Christmas Eve. It doesn't get any better than that so I'll just be happy to have them all home again.

Hi, my name is Jackie and I am from Houston, TX. I have been reading your blog for about 3 months now and I really enjoy it. If I could have anything for Christmas it would be a tie (either one would make me insanely happy) 1. A complete bedroom makeover (new furniture, bedding etc) or 2. A day of beauty that I can enjoy by myself(massage, hair, facial, manicure etc.) I am a single mom of 4 so I don't get time alone ever. God bless you

Hello! It's Jamie here from San Antonio! There are a few extravagant things that I'd love for Christmas. We could REALLY use a new foundation for our house, cracked walls replaced, a new roof and new windows. Maybe just ask Ty to come and give us an Extreme Home MakeOver.
I'd also love a new sewing machine that works better than my current one. And maybe a few bells and whistles for my camera and my photography clients. Just extravagant wishes. Thanks for asking us to dream!!!

I'm Andrea from Calgary Alberta Canada. For Christmas, I would like a trip to Hawaii with my husband and son. An all-inclusive resort, with hot tub in the room and excellent child care. And a year of my own personal daily hairstylist. Since you asked! :o)

Hi! My name is Amanda and I'm in Seattle. I think I'd love the money for a letterpress class. I'm quickly becoming a burned out social worker and I need to invest in my creativity... but the money just isn't there for a $500 class. :(

Hi! Sara in Fort Collins, CO. I'd normally have a lot of wonderful, expensive, frivolous things on my Christmas wish list, but this year, I'd just really like to not lose my job. I may lose it around Christmas. Time will tell. I just keep praying (and worrying and crying) up a storm. It'd be a bonus if my husband could get a better job, too, as we could use some more $$ - I'm 16 weeks pregnant!
