That was my Twitter update earlier this evening--along with this picture, which is kinda blurry, but you get the idea. I LOVE these shoes. Red gingham and embroidered cherries? And a ruffle? And a super high heel?
It just doesn't get much better than that. Unless of course you're wearing them to the first night of Bible study, which I was.
We started Bible study at church tonight--Priscilla Shirer's He Speaks to Me. I'm so excited to get up and do my first day of homework tomorrow. Even though it's already 10:19 and way past my bedtime!
I love my group already and took lots of notes on the intro video session. I've never heard Priscilla before and I loved her right off the bat. It doesn't hurt that she and Beth Moore are friends--cause I typically love the people my friends love. Priscilla has the loveliest smile, don't you think? It's making me want to get my teeth whitened.
Study finished at 9, but I sat around talking to my new friend Kristin with an "i" (Hi Kristin!) about books and Beth and studying God's Word and passion and so many other things. We could hardly talk fast enough. She's definitely what Anne would call a kindred spirit, I think!
Okay, I've really got to head toward bed. The kitchen needs cleaning first (hate that when all I want to do is go to bed) and the coffee needs prepping. But even though I'd rather go straight to bed, I'll have an easier time getting up in the morning if the kitchen is clean and the coffee already on. It's the little things that make the morning run smoothly, you know.
So, have you started Bible study this spring/winter (it's hard to tell what it is in Phoenix!)? What are you studying? Inquiring minds want to know (which is really a nice way of saying I'm being nosey!). So do tell!
Hi Joanne!
Love being your new friend and fan!

A. If you ever can attend a Deeper Still (Beth, Priscilla, and Kay Arthur), DO IT!
B. I love the shoes.
C. We did Priscilla's Discerning the Voice of God in the Fall. For our new study, starting Feb. 14, we're starting Running Nowhere in Every Direction. It's put out by the Navigators. We did another one in this series a while back, and while the study is a bit lighter on the "digging into Scriptures" part, it was heavy, heavy, heavy on the putting your faith into action and applying this stuff to your life. I hope this one will be, too!

Hi Joanne, Just started Becoming a Woman of Simplicity by Cynthia Heald. Also, my Lifegroup from church is studying, Practicing the Presence of God by Brother Lawrence. WOW...amazinly they both go hand in hand. Funny how God does that...wonder what he is trying to say to me!!! :)

Those shoes are perfect, DARLING. Wish I could admire them in person!! My sister Bethany would LOVE them. Don't know how she'd feel about the spike heel, but she could get used to it!

Love the shoes - but I have an uncommon confession - I CAN NOT walk in heels! It's like a man trying to walk in heels - I don't know why - or if there is a trick to it - but I will seriously break an ankle on these wobbly feet of mine!
I did that study - and have done 2 of Priscilla Shirer's studies. Love them.
Our church is doing Breaking Free - which I have done before - and it is also a night study. But will school and 4 classes this semester - I may skip (gasp!) this study. I don't know how I would find the time to give it my all....

I was getting ready to comment on how I absolutely ADORE your shoes, and saw that Marla beat me to it. ;) Seriously--cherries, red gingham, and ruffles--it doesn't get any more perfect. Where did you get them and how high are those heels?
I am in a Bible study that's going through Beth Moore's "Believing God" study. I've already done it once, but this is a study I could do over and over and over.

I've heard Priscilla at a women's retreat and she was great. You will enjoy her study.

Hi Joanne...
I'd take those shoes in flats...ha...I just can't do the high heels...I have zero arch...or skills...tee hee.
I echo what Gail wrote...get thee to Deeper Still...they don't happen that many times per year but it was such an amazing time to see first hand what living a life that has been steeped in the Word of God looks like...Priscilla was such a powerful teacher and a hoot as well.
My long time Bible study group just finished The Patriarchs and we just started A Woman's Heart God's Dwelling Place...all but one of us has done it before but it is many of our favorite study...including me...this study just gave me such amazing awe for how there is not one spare stroke of the pen in God's Word...EVERYTHING has a purpose and meaning from Genesis to Revelation...I am excited to do it again!
Happy studying and praying for you as you prepare for teaching this spring!

Currently, we are studying II Corinthians put together by our bible study leader herself. It is modeled after the Kay Arthur Precept studies and the application exhorter that the bible study leader is herself.
I love seeing what studies others are doing as we are always looking for new, fresh Bible studies.
And I just LOVE it when God gives a kindred spirit friend! I met one last night, too, another mom dropping her children off at our AWANA program. I was blessed talking with her. God knows what we need & when we need it, doesn't He?
Oh, and I am with the women contingency that can't/doesn't wear heels :+)
Thanks for sharing Joanne. I thoroughly enjoy your blog.

Have done the Priscilla Shirer study & loved it.
Currently working through James McDonalds Lord, Change My Attitude with my Sunday School class. It is great, we started with the Israelites complaining in the desert.....working on being thankful. It is a very good study, I believe in being thankful in order to grow closer to my Lord.
Your shoes are great, by the way!!

I've done He Speaks to Me and loved it!
Now, I'm doing Beth Moore's Revelation study. Pretty good, of course!

I'm not in the middle of a Bible study right now, but I'm looking for something to be doing at least on my own. So I'm getting a lot of good ideas from all your comments!
Your shoes look great! Deep down I wish I was a heels kinda girl, but if I could, I would wear a great pair of Brooks running shoes everyday with whatever I was wearing:)

My CBS group is studying Revelation (continuing from the fall sememster). I am loving studying this book! God's plans blow my mind. He is amazing.
I'm sure you know that Beth is going to be in Denver in June. I might get to go see her(in conference) for the first time ever. Are you going to go?

Oh, LOVE the shoes!
Posted by: Blessed | January 29, 2010 at 04:24 PM
I loved all the shoe love--really, you flats girls just need some practice. I suppose I got my share of practice because I have big feet and could totter around Famous Footwear in women's shoes by the time I was in the fourth grade.
(So, the shoes have a good three-inch heel on them, making me well over six feet tall. And the brand is Irregular Choice and I found them for a song at Marshall's in Solana Beach.)
And I really loved seeing what everyone is studying! Thanks for sharing. Some of them made me agree that I'd love it since you all mentioned some favorite authors (Brother Lawrence, Cynthia Heald, Beth Moore), others made me want to join your group and learn what you're learning. I just love your enthusiasm!
