Had a thought. Or rather a series of thoughts.
I was losing some enthusiasm about running. I'd hit the road and flip through my iPod, trying to find something I wanted to listen to. I love the songs on the mix I was running to, but they were getting, well, old.
And it's hard to run and look at that little screen and flip around to find something new without running into, say, a tree.
So I made some new running mixes for myself the other day, and find myself excited to head out the door so I can listen.
Makes me wonder if God likes a new song from time to time too. Is that why the psalmist encourages us to "sing a NEW song"?
I do love to run to worship music, and I also love a good 80s mix, a little Macy Gray, and the Elephant Love song medley from "Moulin Rouge." Not to mention Taylor Swift singing "Our Song." Oh, and some Pet Shop Boys. And somehow all of the Madonna we own is not on my computer. Need to find those too.
And after watching "Glee" for the first time last night and downloading BOTH soundtracks (Thank you, Toben!), I think there's a new mix waiting to be made.
What's your favorite "new song"?
You know what my New Song is. And I'm clinging to His promises about it, too!

I go thorough phases where I can listen to the same song a million times, and then, all of a sudden I'm tired of it. My favorite "new song" right now (although it is on a CD I have had for a couple of years, is "Unashamed Love", by Travis Cottrell. I love the end, where he recites the beginning of Psalm 91:
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely he will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
Have a great day!

"American Honey" by Lady Antebellum. I listen to it constantly!

I'm still searching for that 'perfect mix' to listen to while I exercise. I've picked out a sprint-distance tri as a goal in September and I'm working towards it. I do love to listen to Praise and Worship music that has a good beat. Toby Mac, Jeremy Camp, Third Day, etc.
Running and/or walking while hands are lifted in praise has gotten me some stares from the neighbors. But, oh well.

I'm all OVER the place when it comes to music, but I recently downloaded a Josh Wilson song called "Sing" that I love.
I made a "I'm a Gleek" playlist for those two albums. Totally stole the idea from a friend but it makes me smile.

Joanne, you might want to pick up the March issue of Prevention magazine...in one of their articles, running is listed as the worst exercises-we're not designed for all that pounding!
Strengthens the heart, but wears out your body.
