As I'm working on my notes to teach on the valley of the shadow of death this week, God is at work. Seems like every lesson I teach is timely, personal, and that God is having me live it out in the midst of teaching it.
"You are with me." That's the crux of the valley. No matter what. We are never alone for a moment. I don't know about you, but I need to to know that.
As a group, we're up through verse three this week.
The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
(Psalm 23:1-3)
It feels like we're taking a long time to learn this familiar psalm, but focusing on only one verse for a week rather than rushing ahead to what we already know (or think we know) has been good. It's allowed it to sink deep.
What are you learning? Leave a comment and a link below.
I love how the Lord can do that--make whatever we're teaching/learning REAL in our everyday life. I'm glad that you're getting a lot out of Psalm 23.

I memorized Prov 18:10 about running to the tower. It's too risky to do anything less.

I am currently preparing to speak at a ladies luncheon in a couple weeks. It's strange the way God takes you through things in the midst of the prep and as part of the prep.
My scripture is posted today... http://www.discoveringliz.com/2010/04/memory-monday-romans-831-32.html

I have been reminded that only God can take care of sin. So the delayed sanctification in my life -- no matter how much I want it to be gone, work for it to be gone, only God can take it away. Although I participate with Him and have a part. I cannot take away my sin -- only Jesus can do that. I know that in my head but it is a different thing when it comes to the parts of me working it out. I have had to deal with the sin of mine that affects my children and trust God to work in their lives. And continue in humble reliance upon Him. He is so good, and gracious and kind. I am thankful.
Also, I went to a homeschool conference this weekend and heard Andrew Pudewa speak on reading out aloud A LOT to our children and also memorization. It made me think of your blog here and your memory monday. He strongly encouraged memorizing Suzuki style where once you learn a poem (he was talking about poetry but I want to apply it to Scripture) you say it every day. Fascinating stuff. I really want to go back and re-learn all those AWANA verses that I had learned long ago. So pretty soon I may be connecting up here. Thanks for your insights.
Whew..this is long for a comment!
