Made it halfway to Denver today. After sleeping last night on the couch with my beach towel as a blanket (sad and pathetic, huh?!), I was tired to start with and wasn't sure I was going to make it. But after a stop at Starbucks and a diet Coke at the next stop and your prayers for energy after I begged for them on Twitter, I started to perk up some. Thank you.
Emma and I listened to The Magician's Nephew and most of Prince Caspian. I love the Chronicles of Narnia, love books on tape. And heard God speak all kinds of ways today through them. I'd tell you more, but my contacts are sticking to my eyeballs and I'm so, so tired.
I'll leave it with this from The Magician's Nephew. Digory and Polly go to get the apple for Aslan and realize they don't have food, wondering why Aslan didn't give them food for their journey to the garden. Fledge says, "I expect he likes to be asked."
It wasn't new to me. I read the whole series every year. But it struck me hard today. I need to ask for what I need, what I want. And to be specific about it. Yes, God knows our needs, but I'm with Fledge. I expect he likes to be asked anyway.
So I'm going to.
Safe travels:)

Thanks for the reminder Joanne as I have been wanting some things myself lately, but just thought because God knew there was no need to ask on my part.
Thanks for the reminder from Fledge.
Blessings and safe travels!

We're getting ready to listen to The Magician's Nephew today on our road trip. You've whetted my appetite. : ) Can't wait to hear you are home!

Okay, I know you are in the middle of moving and may not be up for big theological questions, but here is one I struggle with. I've been taught two things over the years from various pastors, teachers, etc. 1.)Prays should be specific. Ask for what you want...nothing is too big or too little. 2.)Pray 'thy will be done'. It's all up to God and he will supply your needs as He sees fit.
I'm probably making this harder than it needs to be. I tend to do that. I guess I feel guilty when asking for things because I feel like I should just be thankful for whatever God provides because He knows best.

Oh, how I enjoy the Narnia books! This reminded me to share with you that there is a Narnia reading challenge over here at Reading To Know that you might be interested in! I am going to pick-up and read some for the month of July as part of this challenge. The last two times I have read them have been as read-alouds to the kids. It's been awhile that I have read them to myself & am looking forward to that.
