Isn't it fun when your friends meet and love each other? Or when you find out that you have friends in common with people? How I love that small world kind of a thing!
Which is exactly how I felt when reading all about your favorite book characters--we have lots of "friends" in common--from Anne and Nancy Drew, to Trixie and Honey, to Sam and Frodo. Mary Lennox and Dickon and Martha. Laura Ingalls.
And all the girls at Mallory Towers and the Famous Five. For those of you who grew up in the States, you may not have heard of Enid Blyton and all of her wonderful books. But I promise you'll love them. If you love boarding school kinds of books, search for the Mallory Towers books. They are wonderful!
And some you mentioned friends I didn't really know until I was an adult, but I love them too: Betsy, Tacy and Tib; Harry, Hermione, and Ron; the Happy Hollisters; Cherry Ames. And for you Nancy Drew lovers, have you met The Dana Girls?
And then there's so many others I could mention: Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy; Jupiter Jones and his friends, Bob and Andrew, from Alfred Hitchcock and The Three Investigators series; Elizabeth Gail; Pauline, Petrova, and Posie from Ballet Shoes.
There are so many lovely books to read--and read again. And always more to discover. I loved that some of you mentioned some I'm not familiar with--you can bet I'll be checking out Beanie Malone for sure.
On a related note, so many of the books we read through Sonlight for our homeschooling are Newbery Medal and Honor books. If you (or your kids) are looking for great books to read, this comprehensive list is a great place to start.
Hi Joanne,
Speaking of beloved book characters- have you read I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith? I think you might enjoy it- I loved the narrator and wish I read it when I was younger as I think she captures the mix of emotions in late adolescence well. Best wishes!- Christina

I love Enid Blyton and grew up reading all of her books. St. Clare's is another boarding school series by EB, and I love it even more than Malory Towers. I can go on and on about her books. There are so many that I love! She was a prolific author, writing for very young readers too.

I love to read about all your favorite books! I love Betsy-Tacy-Tib and reread them often.
On another note...I read on your side bar that you are going to tea at your mom's house. Would love to know the devotion your wrote. Hope you had a wonderful time.

Jennifer:
Theres something sweet and innocent about Besty-Tacy-Tib that I just love, along with the freedom they have as children that our kids just dont get to experience today. And I posted the devotion under Come, enter the story.
