Just heard about your blog today through a prayer request. Please know people who don't know you or hadn't heard of Joanne before today are praying that she heals. I'm praying for strength for your family, for you. I'm praying for her doctors and nurses. Take care.

Continued prayers and love coming your way.

Kristin Large McAllister

Kristin Large McAllister writing. I remember Toby (as we called you then) from Junior High youth group at First Pres. I also went to Whitworth. Remember you both planning to go on the France Study Tour. . . Just read of your situation from Tad Wisenor's facebook post. Strange, or maybe not so, that God brought you to mind the other day! You'll be in my prayers.

Rachel Lenda

Just found Joann's blog yesterday. Praying for her, for you and for your precious girls during this time.

Praying Psalm 46 fervently for Joanne and you and your loving family...I've been blessed so much by both of you through your writing (TrueFaced, Misplacing God & Living Simply, not mention your blogs)and especially through your authentic pursuit of the Lord.

"Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging....The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress."

May His mighty presence keep you tonight and in the coming days...

Dear Brother Toben...

We haven't had the opportunity to meet, but we are brother and sister in Jesus. I live all the way in Taylors, South Carolina, but I want you to know that I'm praying fervently over your sweet wife, Joanne. The revelation the Lord has revealed to me in the times of prayer over you guys has been very refreshing and reassuring. I pray Psalm 46 aloud over her every day...I weep over her often, but I'm looking forward to her miraculous turn-around! Know that I'm praying over you both every single time the Lord calls you and Joanne to my heart (which is very often)...He cares so much for her and there is such a sweet presence of the Lord for every time I pray and weep over her.

I appreciate these updates, as I will be following. I don't have twitter, but this works for me. (:

Praying Psalm 46 and Psalm 91 in Jesus' Name...

We're praying continuously for Joanne and her fight. Thanks for all the updates!

Still praying continually for Joanne and family. I was looking over some of her past posts. on January 5th she posted "You are radically dependent on God to do something in your life you could never do."

My prayer over the next couple of days is that God WILL do something radical and miraculous in Joanne's life, something only the Great Physician can do!

"In the morning, O Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation." Psalm 5:3

"He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep." Psalm 121:4

How wonderful is it that we have a God who is watching over our sister Joanne as she rests and heals!Praise God!

Lee Ann Lee

Keep fighting Warrior Princess! We are cheering for you. "The LORD your God who goes before you will Himself fight on your behalf, just as He did for you in Egypt before your eyes, and in the wilderness where you saw how the LORD your God carried you, just as a man carries his son, in all the way which you have walked until you came to this place." Deut 1:30-31 God has carried you, He will carry you and He is fighting on your behalf. Praying for your healing!

Heather C

Keep swinging, Joanne! Our prayers are supplying the momentum behind that glove... as you are carried along by the Spirit. Love you!

Sheryl Dean

I am so praying for Joanne. She's a fighter and God is carrying her, and your family, through this.

Rachel B

Joanne, you prayer magnet you... Shot a few prayer-arrows your way. There's quite an army praying for you out here. I'd say at least half of us, myself included, don't even know you. But we want to. :-)

Marla Taviano

I love you, Joanne. Praying for you all day long.

My Grandma kept doing the same thing when she was in the hospital--she kept pulling for the tubes.

If it's any encouragement to you...I wanted to share her story with you because I think it will encourage you to keep seeking God for a miracle for Joanne.

The doctors told us that my Grandma was going to pass away and told us to go say our final goodbyes. Everyone was so somber, but something inside me was mad. I wasn't ready to do that.

I felt like the Lord was telling me, just like He'd told Jairus: "Don't be afraid. Just believe."

I kept repeating that over and over in my head and prayed, "Okay Lord, I don't know what You've got going here. We need a miracle. I don't know what Your Will is in this. But...I'm going to pray that Your answer is YES, until You tell me no."

And that was how I kept praying. Everyone was gathered by her bedside, stroking her hands and feet and saying goodbye. I grabbed her hand and kept talking with the Lord in my mind, "You said, don't be afraid, just believe."

I also said again, "Lord, Please heal my Grandma. I'm believing that Your answer is yes until You clearly tell me no."

My eyes were shut and I felt my hand that was holding hers get incredibly hot and a few seconds later, her eyes popped wide open and she started to sit up in bed and trying to pull the wires and tubes out!

God gave us a lot more time with her.

I didn't know what God's answer was going to be, but I just kept praying that His answer was going to be yes until He told me otherwise.

I don't know if what happened to my Grandma will help you or not. I just want you to be encouraged to keep believing that God can work miracles. I've seen them happen before my very eyes.

Don't be afraid, just believe.

We'll keep believing for you too--just like the people that lowered the paralytic down through the roof. We're all banding together and trusting God to work in your wife's favor.

Karen Korb

I heard about you guys through Kelly's blog and had to come and let you know that you are in my prayers. Rock Mills, AL is covered. My husband is the pastor at the United Methodist church there....and you are on our prayer list. Rock Mills is on Hwy 22 just 3 miles from the Georgia line.

I heard of your story from a prayer request on facebook. Please know Joanne and your family are in my prayers.

Just checking in this morning on you guys. My prayers for you continue.

yanna westmoreland

I am a Siesta and I wanted you to know I am also a prayer warrior on my knees. When I read the update this morning and Joanne with her fighting gloves on all that went through my mind was beloved Romans 8:36-39. Nothing will seperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. I hear you Joanne we're all fighting right with you in prayer and personally I can't wait to hear your side of the story what a discussion you must be having with God! There is victory in Him.

I'm fighting alongside all of you, with all of the authority our Saviour has given me. Praying for peace in your family, and especially for your girls. The LORD is strong enough to bear you all up.

With love in Him, from a sister in Malaysia.

Teresa Hemmer

I also am a Siesta and wanted you to know that I am praying for Joanne and your family. May God give you peace and know that you will overcome and have already won this fight! In the precious name of Jesus.

Anné Leonard

A lot of prayers for Joane and your entire family are coming all the way from South Africa - got your details from Twitter.

We know God holds us all firmly in his hands, irrespective of circumstances.

Yes Joanne, keep fighting my friend! I was just rereading your book last night....Misplacing God.....and oh the treasures inside. May I quote from your lovely book...."God alone is the one who can "meet all [my] needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:19). Did you catch that? He can meet all my needs. All your needs. No matter what they are."

I am trusting in God that he is meeting all your needs right now and will continue to! Much love and prayers from your bloggy friend, Jennifer.

This Siesta is just letting you know that I am continuing to pray for all of you.

Keep fighting, Joanne!

Lisa @ The Preacher's Wife

You, Joanne, and the girls are in my constant thoughts, my whispered prayers, and my shouted ones. Thinking about Jo's right hook reminded me of this scripture..

" servants of God we commend ourselves in every way: in great endurance; in troubles, hardships and distresses; in beatings, imprisonments and riots; in hard work, sleepless nights and hunger; in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left" 2 Corinthians 6:4-7

Swing on, my brother and sisters!

Paige Szajnuk

I don't know you all personally, but I stumbled upon Joanne's blog via Abraham Piper's blog (22 words). Your family has been on my heart and mind in a powerful way these past few days, and you can count me among the thousands who are praying.

Sending prayers from Louisiana. Stay strong.

Oh what a firey fight of faith! We are in there beside the ring and shouting voices of encouragement, scriptures, prayers and praise. I too have seen miracles...more than a decade ago a friend of mine had a massive anuerisym inside her brain. The Dr's gave her only 5% chance to live, and even then, said if she lived, she would be a vegetable. Instead of believing the Dr.s report, we believed the report of the LORD. They allowed us to go in and lay hands on her in prayer, faith believing. The power of God came, and nearly knocked us over! To say we were stunned is an understatement. It was most definately a power encounter, much like touching electricity. Within 3 days she opened up her eyes, but was unable to speak, but it was obvious she was there and recognized us and was able to hold her hand up and finger pointing up in the air. Soon afterwards she started speaking, but we couldn't understand her. A pastor was there and said he recognized the language she was speaking and to all our amazement, it was Hebrew! (She was of a Jewish background and had received Jesus as her LORD, but she didn't know Hebrew!) Now and then an English word would pop up. To say the Drs. were amazed is an understatement. Us too! She made a full recovery, to the glory of God. This is one of the most powerful miracles I have ever witnessed in my life. All I can say is: "God is able!" God has called me to stand with you and the great company of believers for an outrageous "Show up and Show off" on God's account and for you Joanne and the family. The analogy of the boxing gloves is priceless! Yes, Our Champion keep up the good fight of faith, and empower Joanne and Toben and family and the family of God to do the same on their behalf.
Believing God with you for the impossibles,

I'm just checking in to see how you all are. Praying in Colorado Springs. Toben--we don't know each other but I've been blessed by your transparency in your marriage blog. I know your priority is Joanne--but want to say I'm praying that you remember to take care of yourself too.

My heart goes out to you nd Joanne and your family.

My prayer goes up to God our Father who is in the miracle business full-time.

Nothing is impossible for God.

My brother went through a traumatic accident and was in a coma for weeks. As I drove four hours to get there, I cried out to God. I was the only Christian in the family and felt totally unprepared for the responsibility I felt that put on me.

God told me, "I have been preparing you for this since the day you were born."

God has been preparing you, too. You can do this. God will bring you all through. Your Love is in His hands... His completely capable, kind, gentle, loving hands.

Treasure these moments with your darling. I believe your love for each other will grow. I believe she knows.

God bless you!

I continue to pray for Joanne! Today I was led to pray over the right hemisphere of her brain. I'm staying there until God moves me. Toben, I had the joy of meeting your wife a few years ago in San Antonio at a Beth Moore event. We became fast friends, and I truly admire her. While I can't do anything for your family due to distance (I live in Michigan) please know that my prayers for you and my thoughts of you haven't stopped. Covering your whole family as the Spirit leads.
Warmly, Teri

Dear Toben,
Thank you for your updates. I'm continuing to pray for all of your family. Your posts have been so beautifully written, I've been in tears.

I discovered Joanne on Beth Moore's blog, and something she posted a few days before her stroke led me to her blog for the first time. Your family and mine have a lot in common, and I'd planned to e-mail her this week. Joining the many around the world in praying fervently for Joanne's complete recovery.
Another "siesta" from California

I don't know Joanne and this is my first visit to her blog. Another blogger asked for prayer for her so I came running over to see what I could do. We are former Littleton residents, now in Evergreen, not far away. I will be praying for her and asking friends to pray as well. We do not need to know a brother or sister in Christ to love and pray for them.

continuing to lift you all up to our precious Jesus.

Thank you for the updates. I am praying for Joanne and your whole family. Your willingness to share your life at this difficult time is a blessing. What a privilege to get to pray for such an amazing wife and mother. God bless you all!

Praying for Joanne and your family. Keep swinging girl! I posted psalm 46 on my blog for support

First of all thank you Toben for these updates, your thoughtfulness is appreciated.

As I read this update the verse that came to me was Ephesians 6:17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Through Memory Monday Joanne has truly taken up that sword and is prepared for this fight. Just imagine all those verses she has memorized, I see all of those verses running around in her brain as God repairs the damage and heals her.

Toben and Joanne,

We met you through twoignite in Arizona. Keep fighting, keep the gloves up and know we are praying for you from Kansas.

Praying Psalm 46 again today for you, Joanne and the girls and family. NASB version reads, v 5 "God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns."

I just found your posting yesterday through a FB page requesting prayer. I don't know you but I am praying for Joanne. God will never leave you nor forsake you both and your family while you travel this road. My sister suffered a stroke at the age of 38. She was told she would never walk again and may never wake up but with the power of prayer she is walking with a brace and has no memory issues from the stroke. God is on your side:)

Hang in there girl! You spoke at our MOPS group a couple of years ago (First Baptist Church Black Forest). Thank you for your ministry! You are HIS, there is no doubt! Praying you are resting & in HIS presence during this time that you are away from us. Much like Alicia's post of today, I have a similar story. My brother, David, had a traumatic brain injury in 2009 from an accident. While we were praying the night of his accident, I felt like God told me, "Trust Me, He will be with me for a little while, but Trust Me!" I wasn't sure how to take this message, but held onto his Word. I asked for what I believed He could do! I had nightmares of his condition that night, but woke singing, Our God is Mighty to Save, He is Mighty to Save... that song stayed on my heart & mind for days & was truly my prayer!
David woke 2 days later. He too had the white boxing gloves & was restrained, as the staff told us he was in the "2 year old stage": he was determined to remove tubes & try to get up.
Our God IS Mighty to Save, David has had a full recovery; however, it was a road, including long-term memory loss for a period (he did not recognize family members at first, but recognized co-workers!) He was confused to say the least, but God surrounded him with the trained care workers he needed!
I would encourage family & friends to keep a journal & visitor book for those to document their visits & prayers for you during this time. This was very welcomed by David, as he recovered. He would recognize names as began to be able to read. This was actually recommended to us by another brain injury patient that came to visit him.
Oh, Joanne & family, my heart hurts for what you are going through, but PLEASE know we are praying & know what you are experiencing. Praying for His healing. My Savior, HE can move the mountains, He is MIGHTY to SAVE, HE is MIGHTY to SAVE.

Toben I am praying, I think everday about you and your family and for Joanne. Lots of love from the netherlands.God bless you and your family. And audery and Emma keep faith girls. Your mom is Great!

Continuing to lift Joanne up to the Father. Praying for you and the girls as well. He is able!!

I found out about your blog on another site I read. My prayer's and thoughts go out to you all. Almost 3 years ago my sister had a massive stroke at 49 years of age. It has been a uphill battle. It sounds like Joanne has a huge heart and a caring family and miracles can happen.
