Last night my 92 year-old grandfather passed away after relatively normal hip replacement surgery. HE woke up after the operation and asked for a root-beer float. The doctor said he didn't think that was a great idea. So my Papa said, "What about a glass of buttermilk?" Again, denied. So they wheeled him back to his room, he fell asleep and a couple of hours later they think a clot went to his heart and he passed away, very peacefully.
It is too late tonight to go into more detail and there is so much else that happened today (like Audrey's graduation) that I want to share, but I really need to go to bed.
Prayer request:
Please pray for our entire extended family as we grieve the loss of this great man.
More soon.
Toben
My prayers are with your family!

I'm a thinking that your grandfather was a thinking that if he couldn't have a rootbeer float or a glass of buttermilk, what was the use. Goodness sakes, couldn't the doctor have said "sure, in a little bit" . . . not "no, not a good idea". Well, I'm being a little facetious here . . . but not really. And I am really really sorry about your loss. My condolences . . .

Just found your wonderful blog through A Mom's Year. Love your style! I'm sick too... definitely sucks. Hope we're both feeling better fast! :
