Yesterday we came up to Kristen's cabin in Winter Park. We are here for the weekend and what a beautiful weekend it is shaping up to be. We have doors and windows open and the temperature outside is just perfect. It is quiet here except for the occasional passing of a train or the chirp of a bird or bark of a neighborhood dog. How pleasant!
Yesterday the girls set out to meet the all the neighborhood dogs. The folks next door are young adults (20-somethings) and they had a party that looked like a poster for Abercrombie & Fitch! They all looked so young and beautiful and healthy. They were drinking a few beers and listening to music and generally enjoying themselves. It made me think of Joanne's and my early twenties and how it could have just as easily been us over there enjoying a delightful afternoon with friends. My, how 20 years will change you!
Anyhow, they had a LOT of dogs with them and the girls played with them most of the afternoon. They scoured Kristen's house for dog treats, but finding none, they decided that the dogs might like Ritz crackers. So that's how they made friends with the dogs.
I was watching the basketball game last night after Joanne went to bed and Audrey decided that what this house needed was so fruit. So off we went to Safeway down the road in Frazer. We loaded up on $20 worth of fruit and a large can of whipped cream. Brought it all home and the girls went to town, putting massive amounts of whipped cream on strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries. I think the fruit was just a delivery system for all the whipped topping! But they loved it.
Today my parents are coming up to hang out. The town is completely dead--no tourists this early in the season. But we will all sit around and read and talk and nap. Sounds nice, doesn't it! My dad's birthday is Sunday so we will go out for a birthday dinner on Saturday night at one of the places that Kristen recommended to me.
Good stuff!

Enjoy the time, my blog friends!

Do me a favor, Toben? Give Joanne a big hug from me and tell her I miss her.
