Happy New Year, y'all!
I hope you have had a marvelous Christmas break and are ready to jump back into the routine of life this week.
Our Christmas was lovely, quiet, and very cold. (It was just on Saturday that we finally made it above freezing here in Denver and the mid-50s this afternoon felt like a heat wave!) Today was the first morning I have not been miserably cold in church in weeks. It was great to be a comfortable temperature and really focus on the service instead of dwelling on how cold I was.
We celebrated Christmas on Christmas Eve this year. We went to my sister's house just after noon and ate a big meal together before opening presents with them. Wade deep-fried another turkey, which was just as delicious as our Thanksgiving bird. We exchanged gifts with their family before going to a candle-light service at their church at 4:30. After that, we headed across town lickety-split to get to our church for a service at 7.It was a wonderful, long day.
On Christmas morning, Mom, Dad and I exchanged our gifts around the tree before getting dressed and going next door for brunch with neighbors who have become good friends. We spent the days following Christmas mostly at home, trying to stay warm.
It was been great to have so many empty days in a row.
We jump right back into our usual life tomorrow with my art group at the Stroke Center and then a trip to Colorado Springs to meet with my counselor for my usual Monday afternoon appointment.
Mom and I start Priscilla Shirer's new study on the Armor of God next Thursday (1/14)at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church and the Old Testament prophets study we did last fall with women from our own church resumes the Saturday after that.
It feels like there ids more I have to tell you, but I planned to blog earlier this afternoon until my sister and my niece came over to watch Harry Potter. We have been watching the film's as Ava finishes the books and watched part 1 of the Deathly Hallows this afternoon.
If I could type faster, it wouldn't be a problem, but it is dark and that means my body is ready for sleep. Maddie is up already here on the bed asleep and she is asking me to stop typing and come snuggle. She is the queen, so good night for now and I will get back to you soon! As always, I post frequently in between blog posts on Twitter (@joanneheim) and on Facebook (Joanne Heim).
Much love and sweet dreams,
Joanne

Youre writing, (which I've liked since I began reading your blog after the stroke) is getting more and more descriptive as time goes by. Wonderful evidence of your healing brain. Thank You, Lord.
