These past four months in Arizona have flown by so quickly. It's hard to believe that we leave on Tuesday to head back to Denver. I'd like to stay here longer, but I am looking forward to going home too.
I will miss the hot weather a bunch and am hoping there won't be any May snow this year. (It has snowed on Mother's Day in years past.) Spring snows are the worst. They tend to be heavy, which means broken branches on trees that had finally leafed out and if it freezes, then spring needs a do-over to get started again and that pushes summer out even further.
I am looking forward to having my own bathroom and shower at home. My bathroom in our rental house here has a tub/shower, so I relocate to the master shower every morning since it's easier to use. It has worked and while it's on the small side, it's huge compared to the camper shower. Still, I love my shower at home and miss it when we are gone.
I am excited to get home to my church too. I really like my church here in Phoenix, but it's a long drive, so being only 15-20 minutes away from church will be nice. I do listen to the podcast from home every week, so I am caught up on the sermons I've missed.
I'm excited to see friends at home. A couple of friends from Denver have been in Phoenix here and there, but being close is better.
Going home means I can start counting down to coming back in October. We bought a house in February and the previous owners are renting back from us until they move to their new home early this summer. They will prepare the house for the summer and when we return in October, we will move in and start furnishing it. We are picking up my bedroom furniture this afternoon and have found some small things here and there, so we'll store it in the guest room of the house until we return.
The house in here in Surprise in Sun Village. We really love this neighborhood and are happy to know we have a place to stay every year, which frees up Dad's time since he typically spends hours looking for a place to rent for the following year when we are here.
The house has two bedrooms and two bathrooms, plus a guesthouse/casita that will be where Maddie and I settle. It's a large room with a bathroom and walk-in closet, so it's a great set up for me. The previous owners updated everything a few years ago, so we don't have a lot of work to do. We will take the tub out of my bathroom and put in a walk-in shower. And we plan to do some yard work to make the backyard more inviting. The golf course behind the house is very pretty, but the rocks between the house and the golf course aren't very welcoming.
The previous owners filled in the pool in the backyard, so we will use the community center pool while we are here, which suits us just fine since it's big and beautiful and we don't have to maintain it!
There's a new In n Out burger across the street from the front gate, and a Trader Joes not too far from the back gate, so it's going to be perfect. I am very excited and bursting with gratitude.
We will go back to Denver for the holidays and then be back in Arizona next winter for another four months.
Between now and leaving on Tuesday, I plan to float in the pool , finish the last few books I borrowed from the lending library and savor the heat.
Mom and Dad are playing their last round of golf this morning, so Maddie ands I are holding down the fort. I need to make some phone calls to set up some appointments at home.
Happy weekend and I'll see you soon from Denver. We haven't decided which route to take home yet. We could be home Wednesday night, or it could be Saturday. Regardless, I will be back at my art group on Monday and PT on Tuesday.
It’s so great reading you’re updates! Lunch for sure when you’re back in Denver ❤️
