Good Wednesday morning! Mom and Dad brought the camper to the house on their way home from Colorado Springs last night and we are busy packing today (for me, that means my bed is covered in piles of clothes) before we hit the road tomorrow and head east on our mostly annual end-of-summer trip. We plan to be gone for several weeks and see things we've not seen before, including the headwaters of the Mississippi River in Minnesota somewhere. Dad has planned it all and he did send me the spreadsheet so I can see where we're going each day, but mostly, I'm along for the ride and look out the window as we travel on smaller roads through farmland and small towns. We could travel on interstate highways, but that gets boring for whoever is driving and the camper doesn't go very fast, so it's a better choice to drive the smaller roads and see all the things you miss on a bigger highway.
It feels like summer is starting to wind down, which makes me sad since I love summer so much. It's finally pushing the high 90s here in Denver and really feeling summery, even though I haven't spent any time at the pool. It wasn't warm enough for a long time and the pool needed repairs before finally opening. And because of Covid, the pool furniture is not out and you have to make a reservation and take your own chair and wear a mask unless you're in the water and that's just too much hassle, so I get my sun while walking and praying through the neighborhood (at least three miles a day lately!) or just sitting in the sunshine in the front yard. I do require a lot of sunshine since I am definitely solar powered.
In short, it's just been a strange summer and I am excited to get back to Arizona in October and for life to get back to something more normal.
Time to carry a load out to the camper but I wanted to say a quick hello. I am not taking my computer on our trip, but you can follow along on Facebook, as always.
Solar powered...that’s awesome. I think I am solar powered too! Enjoy Minnesota for me too- we missed our annual trip there this year and if by chance you go through Ottertail County give Uncle Dave a wave for us. Have a great trip!

So fun that you're headed to Itasca State Park -- home of the Mississippi headwaters in my home state of Minnesota. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful trip! Six years ago we moved to the Duluth MN/Superior, SO area and absolutely love it. I first started following you when you had your stroke, several weeks ago God put you on my heart. I search and searched for your blog, I couldn't even remember your last name, sorry. So I've been lift you up again in prayer. We all need it right?!? Enjoy, every day is a memory.
A friend in Superior

You'll be going to Lake Itasca, home of the headwaters (also home of the worlds largest mosquitoes). One of our lake homes is in the area on Lake Kabekona in Laporte. If you have time, you should swing through Dorset or Walker (short drives from Itasca), they are cute little tourist towns. I don't know if they are still doing it during covid, but Lake George (another tourist town in the area) has the best blueberry pies at their cafe. Enjoy!
